Adventure Awaits Michigan Western Upper Peninsula

Downhill Skiing

OVER 120 TRAILS AND 17 FEET OF SNOWFALL

The Western U.P. of Michigan is “Big Snow Country” and there are plenty of ski resorts in the area to keep even the most enthusiastic and adventurous skier busy! Whether your interests are in downhill or cross-country we offer a multitude of options.  Ski and snowboard at Indianhead Mountain Resort, Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort, Blackjack Mountain Resort, and the Porcupine Mountains Ski Area.

“Big Snow Country” offers twice the snowfall of Lutsen Mountain, more trails, skiable acreage, and better value than Granite Peak and more vertical than Ski Brule. Plus, you can visit all these resorts in one incredible ski vacation!

Snowriver Resort  Vertical 638 ft 56 Runs

A serene getaway with 160″ of annual snowfall, not to mention crisp, cooling breezes off the 917 miles of Lake Superior shoreline even during the summer months, Snowriver allows you to get swept away in the grandeur of nature.

Comprised of two mountains Snowriver Mountain Resort offers the selection of various terrain and opportunities for powder runs days after snowstorms! In the future we anticipate connecting these two properties via a lift system and currently we provide a shuttle every 30 minutes between our base area operations for fun on both hills.

Off the Jackson Creek Summit you’ll find a ton of groomers and cruisers with plenty of amenities including our Jackson Creek Lodge for vacation stays! The Jackson Creek Chalet features the Sky Bar with beautiful views and vistas including a huge selection of beers, cocktails and pub style fare.  Upstairs you’ll find the Cafeteria for quick grab and go items along with a huge retail shop and equipment rentals.

The slopes and lifts from the Black River Basin area operate Thursday through Sunday and special holidays. The special legacy of Black River Basin is that you can find that unbelievable Snow Country Powder from the week on Thursdays as we don’t groom the hill through the week and leave it in it’s “au natrual” state for fun on Thursdays.  Black River Basin’s chalet offers Logger’s Lounge for food & beverage as well as an equipment rental shop, plenty of seating and locker room facilities.
