Our area offers nearly 100 km of various snowshoeing terrain winding along roaring rivers and through pristine wilderness.

ABR – Offers 10km of snowshoeing.  Rentals are available.

Friends of the Miners Memorial Heritage Park – MMHP trailhead starts at the Ironwood High School baseball field off of Ayer St. in Ironwood, Michigan first loop is 1 mile in length total trail length is 2.6 miles of groomed trail as it goes on the groomed cross-county tail so please stay off the set track of cross country trail this is a very easy trail. There are also some single-track snowshoe trails in the MMHP that are off the main trail these are more up and down with some steep parts.

Michigan Welcome Center Snowshoe Loop – Michigan Information Center West end of Ironwood on Hwy US-2 is the trailhead for the cemetery trail system. Trail consists of 3 loops or one big loop, half-mile, one mile & 1.5 miles.

Trails are flat with some rolling hills very easy to snowshoe for everyone.

Big Snow Resort – Indianhead and Blackjack Mountains – Big Snow Resort features beautiful marked snowshoe trails for hikers of all abilities.  You can even traverse between Indianhead Mountain and Blackjack Mountain for a bite to eat!  Explore our beautiful, scenic marked trails and easy to follow trail maps.  Trails are easy to find and are marked with either orange (Indianhead Summit Trail) or blue markers (Trail to Blackjack).  The Indianhead orange trail is easy to advanced, and Blackjack blue has some climbing on the return, but you can always grab the free shuttle bus after a few warm-up drinks or a bite to eat in Logger’s Lounge or the cafeteria.   Blackjack also has a beginners trail that ends at Gabbro Falls, which is less than a half-mile trail loop.  Snowshoe rentals are available at the Blackjack Ticket Desk and at Indianhead Health & Rec Center.   Trail maps are available at both locations!  We offer guided moonlight snowshoeing on most Saturday nights at 7pm,  weather permitting, that ends with a bonfire before the music starts in Dudley’s Saloon!   Please REGISTER before 2pm on Saturday at 906-229-2239 or text/call 906-364-9089.

Wakefield Sunday Lake – North side of lake has free trails.

Wolverine Nordic Trails & Snowshoe –Trailhead for Wolverine snowshoe trail starts at Wolverine cross country ski area Northeast of Ironwood, trail is 2.1 miles in length and can be considered an advanced trail as its very hilly with steep climbs up and down.
